What do other clients say about us?
"SSDSI is absolutely the real deal! I have personally taken the LSSBB training in Austin, Texas (I am in Washington, DC). I currently have LSSBB, but my emphasis was on lean and taking LSSBB course has helped me to understand streamlining process not only by removing waste, but also by reducing variation with the use of statistics and statistical tools such as Minitab.
The team at SSDSI are extremely knowledgeable and their practical experience has helped make sense of the material that may seem otherwise overwhelming. The instructors are calm, detailed, and patient. They are a wealth of knowledge, prepared, personable, reliable, and are amazing practitioners.
The instructors will not tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear. They are process focused and if you want to improve your business operations, please heed to their advise. They have definitely proven to be trusted advisers."

Lean Six Sigma Certification Project Identification
Key requirements. The Black Belt candidate should:
- Be able to identify the baseline (in a metric) of the process under investigation.
- Be able to describe the goal of the project (in a metric).
- Be able to produce a [i]representative sample data set of [ii]continuous data on the process Y(s) (or output(s)) and process X(s) (or inputs.)
- Explain the defect(s) that the candidate is trying to reduce by identifying the [iii]customer requirements.
- Have access to data on the Y(s) and X(s).
- Have data on the Y(s) and X(s) that populates at least once per day.
*If these requirements are not met in the initial project planning phase, the candidate will be expected to meet these requirements within the progression of the project to meet the 180-day project completion deadline. **
Projects that should not be identified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt project:
- Projects that have already been completed.
- Projects used to justify a solution already in place.
- Projects that do not focus on the reduction of [iv]defects.
- Projects to move equipment, departments, or facilities (these are PM projects).
Key project deliverables (these deliverables must be met to receive certification):
- In the Measure phase, prove through either a GR&R Crossed, Attribute Agreement Analysis or an Audit, that the measurement system for both the project Y(s) and X(s) are reliable. If any are not reliable, then the candidate must improve reliability, and collect further data with a reliable system to analyze in the Analyze phase.
- In the Analyze phase, identify inputs that have a statistically significant effect (with a P-Value) on the output(s) in the process under investigation. *This excludes statistical analysis to prove the current process performance is different from the goal.
- In the Improve phase, prove through a statistical hypothesis test (with a P-Value) that a sample from the improved process is different than a sample from the baseline process and the difference equals or exceeds the difference stated in the goal statement of the project charter.
*The full set of deliverables is defined in the DMAIC project tollgates.
[i] A representative sample is a statistical snapshot that is used to make inferences about a wider population. A representative sample is one that shares the same demographic characteristic as the larger population.
[ii] Continuous data is data that can be measured on an infinite scale, it can take any value between two numbers, no matter how small (For example, time, length, width, volume)
[iii] Customer’s requirements are given in metrics. For example, design requirements for the inner diameter of a widget = .55 inches +/- .05 or a Hospital SAT survey score standard of 95% -5%.
[iv] A defect is a product or service that fails to meet agreed customer requirements.
